Can i grow a virginia creeper from a tub?

i want to grow a creeper up a north facing wall which has no soil so i want to use a tub

Can i grow a virginia creeper from a tub?
YES. This creeper will grow anywhere. I planted one in a tub near a trellis on my patio and it grows rapidly in a very short time and looks lovely all through the summer. It is very low maintenance (just trim occasionally)
Reply:be sure your tub has drainage holes in the bottom.. if not, you could drown your creeper!
Reply:Yes i should think so, cut it back after leaves have fallen just to make it look tidy.
Reply:Wow, do you want some of mine? I have it everywhere and can't get rid of the stuff!! Be careful.. it spreads like crazy.
Reply:WOW, i nearly just read your question wrong!
Reply:Anything can be grown in a pot; as long as the plant gets enough food, water and light - it will grow.

Good luck with your (soon to be) beautiful Virginia Creeper.
Reply:yes you will have no problem by doing it this way
Reply:These things grow anywhere, I had one growing in deep shade on top of the weed cover in my landscaping in no soil at all!

He calls me "the creeper"?

he calles me the creeper cause...when i get sad, mad,or upset...i i have this problem were i pull out my eyebrows. i can't stop! i always get so emotional what should i do?

He calls me "the creeper"?
stop pulling out your eyebrows....Duh
Reply:ur a wierdo...learn to control urself...sorry just the first time i hear this

What is a good creeper for over a pool?

I require a creeper that goes on a screen over a pool. Therefore no droped leaves or flowers. Also my neighbour does not like aromatic flowers - as such jasmine is out etc. Any suggestions?

Ivy(Hedera) is all i can think of, hope this helps!
Reply:Silk or plastic would be about the only things that would do what you want/need.

Does Isotoma Blue Star Creeper last all year?

I'm looking for a ground covering to replace my front yard. While ivy is fine, I am actually quite fond of the Isotoma Blue Star Creeper. How is it as a ground covering (for the entire front yard)... does it stay green throughout the year, including the hot summer and cold winter?

I'm in zone 6, and it would have little to no shade.

Thank you!

P.S.- If it isn't a good ground covering that'll stay green thoughout the year, what is a good ground covering to replace a zone 6 yard w/no shade?

Does Isotoma Blue Star Creeper last all year?
yes, it's a perennial. laurentia fluviatilis, technically. and it's fine in full sun, as long as you keep it from getting too dry. problem is, it 's not suited for zone 6. bummer. zones 4,5,8,9,14-24.

UPDATE: my books were confusing and inconsistant about this species. i have now found a picture of "isotoma" under the correct name of "pratia" and the good news is that it's for zones 5-7! go for it. i've grown it for a client and it does quite well. amend well to give it fertile and well drained soil. buy it in cell packs at a nursery, install the plugs about 6-8 inches apart. plant them level with the soil, not sticking above it at all (common mistake). put down a thin lyer of top dressing (very fine mulch) afterward.
Reply:pratia penduculata is NOT the same as isotoma, they are differnet plant species. pratia is less hardy than isotoma (zone7 and up. Report It

Any suggestions about a fast growing creeper or vine?

Some more details:

I have a 100 meters long (about 330 feet) and 3 meters high (9.85 feet) fence that I want to hide for a wedding reception. I have 14 months until the wedding. I live in Greece (mediterranean climate) and my property has a moderate water supply (there is enough water but the more you consume the higher the price gets). The ideal would be the plant to blossom early June or late May. Can you suggest a creeper plant that can cover the fence completely in that amount of time? I have heard that russian vine grows very fast but it doesn't look so great to me. What about Clematis Montana or Virginia Creeper (I know that it doesn't blossom but if it can grow fast enough I wouldn,t mind)?

Any suggestions about a fast growing creeper or vine?
Honeysuckle grows fast and some types are evergreen. We have the Hall's (Japanese) honeysuckle and it is evergreen for us here in Texas. It has white flowers that turn to a sweet smelling pretty yellow color as the flowers age in late spring. The flowers drop off the vine by themselves. You do not need to deadhead dead flowers. They need to be pruned back 6" to 12" after they bloom and then no more pruning until after they bloom the next spring. This pruning will make them bloom more. You can prune way back if you wish and this will make the honeysuckle bush out.

Reply:morning glories maybe??
Reply:I have Carolina Jasmine planted 3feet apart and in less than a year my fence(6X25 ft) is completely covered.Makes beautiful yellow blooms that start in January and continue to bloom through October
Reply:I would stay away from Virginia creeper because it is unstoppable, but there is a 'nice' cousin to Virginia Creeper, a bignonia. Have a look at them. They can grow 50' easily.

Coldplay or Creeper Lagoon?

I have run across tons of sources that say the song Under the Tracks from the movie Orange County was done by Coldplay, but it was done by Creeper Lagoon. Anybody know why this is?

Coldplay or Creeper Lagoon?
It was definitely Creeper Lagoon from my hometown of San Francisco.

Ishqe Pechan creeper plant grows by 8 inches per day. Can its speed be increased to 30 feet scientifically ?

In Indo Gangetic plains there is a variety of soft creeper plant of leaves similar to that of pine trees %26amp; star shaped beautiful flowers of red, white, purple %26amp; yellow colours of about one inch width. It is popularly called 'Ishq-e-Pechan'. Ask any Lucknow resident who is fond of gardening. Its seed is sown in the rainy season %26amp; its life is of four months. It grows very fast at the rate of eight inches per day. The whole plant looks very beautiful %26amp; makes a soft %26amp; delicate bush very fast within weeks. Can its speed of growth be increased to thirty feet per day by any scientific method ? Horticulturists can think over it to find the way out. If found successful this can be a quick method of afforestation in arid lands %26amp; deserts.

Ishqe Pechan creeper plant grows by 8 inches per day. Can its speed be increased to 30 feet scientifically ?
Gibberic acid applying results more longer internodium area per day and benzyladenine applying trigger the shoot production..
Reply:Thanks for good answer. I'm a little bit disappointed of lack of people's interest in quick afforestation. Report It

Virginia Creeper . . .?

I would like to have a Virginia Creeper growing on my house walls but would need to plant one in a tub or something as I have no garden near enough. Would a VC grow in a large tub or do they need to be in proper ground?

Virginia Creeper . . .?
Virginia Creeper can be grown in a large planter. If your house isn't made of brick or stone, however, I would reconsider. I love Virginia Creeper on my fences and trees, but I am afraid it would pull the vinyl siding right off my house if I let it grow there, as it can get very large and heavy. And wood siding would be subject to moisture damage from the vines blocking air flow, and would be difficult to paint when needed. It is an excellent native American vine though, and should be more widely planted, in my opinion.
Reply:Virginia Creeper will grow anywhere... I have it coming through cracks in the driveway, against the foundation of the house, from under the deck, behind the shed where there is no sunlight, you name it! It dosent need much soil to survive. I pull it out all the time and cant seem to rid my yard of it.... Don't plant it on your house unless you want your house to rot.... try planting it on a fence or tree. I have it on a small swamp Maple and in 5 years it completely took it over. I had to pull it all off and 2 years later is is back better than before.Just know that it is invasive... and good luck if Virginia creeper is what you want, Cause once established you cant get rid of it!

Virginia Creeper Vines are Dying From Unknown Cause?

Last year, and again this year, something is wrong with my Virginia Creeper. The new leaves look sort of deformed from the very beginning. And the older leaves get pinholes in them, or even somewhat larger holes. My guess is that something is eating them but I see no bugs. With a magnifying glass I could see some tiny black specs but they weren't moving so I don't really think they were bugs. The vines are about 12 years old and have been great until last year. The only other possibility I can think of is that I layed a brick paver path near the base of the vines last year, and I wonder if some chemical is washing off the bricks and hurting the vines....seems unlikely. Thanks.

Virginia Creeper Vines are Dying From Unknown Cause?
My first thought is that you have some sort of insect preying on the creeper, leaving behind little poopies (the black non-moving specks); but for the other, the fact that the leaves are emerging deformed...that makes me think virus. Mosaic virus, perhaps?

Or the culprit for both of these could simply be the Virginia Creeper leafhopper, which is very closely related to the potato, grape and three-banded leafhoppers. It causes stippling on and cupping of leaves, and is controlled by Pravado, Danitol, Assail, to name a few...if you want to go the chemical route.

If you want to go the more natural route, try DE, otherwise known as diatomaceous earth, which I find at Lowe's for about $8.99 a bag. It is a powder that will not harm you or your pets (if any) and you can put it in say, a ketchup squirter (dollar store) and just poof it all over and under your plants.

I use this stuff to kill fleas on my pets...it's very effective. And I dust it on with my hands. Harmless to us.

Now, if all that fails, and I'm way off track, take a sample to your local county extension agency. They can help you out there. For free.

Happy Gardening!

My creeper is dying?

I have a creeper in my house which goes along the edges of the wall and is aorund 10m long altogether. I forgot to water it for about 3 days and the leaves started turning yellow, so i watered it alot, but not too much. I made sure it had enough water but its leaves are still yellow and increasing to be browsn aroudn the edges.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem? It took me 5 years to grow, so I really do NOT want to lose it. Please help me before it is too late?

My creeper is dying?
If the leaves are already yellowing, they won't go back to green. This doesn't mean you killed the plant. Take off the damaged leaves so it can stop dumping energy into them, and be nice to your plant.

Jeepers creeper 3?

will they bring back justing long he did a real good job in this movie .do ya think it will be just as good as part one.hope that it is more detailed.why did the creeper need his skin what was the point to that.

Jeepers creeper 3?
Don't know about the skin, but I do hope they make a sequel to these two movies. I loved them.
Reply:http://www.jeeperscreepers3.ne... Report It

Reply:the creeper needed the skin because that is how he replaced his dead skin. If you saw the second film, you would know that.
Reply:are they really making a third one? that's horrible. i was amazed that they made a second one. why would you make a sequel to a movie that sucked?
Reply:why would they need to make a second jeepers creepers? the first one was okay... the second was bad enough, there's no need to punish us by making a third one, is there?
Reply:He didn't need his skin he needed his eyes. The creeper eats what he needs. The ending had Dary (justin) hanging on the hooks with everything except his eyes, and in the back ground the Jeepers Creepers song was playing.

"Jeepers Creepers, where did you get those PEEPERS?"
Reply:I loved the 2nd one...the first one was kinda weak. I hope they make a 3rd one.

The Joker vs The Creeper?

I watched TNBA episode "Beware of the Creeper", where the Creeper steals the Joker's act. His methods looked so wild and insane that the Joker actually looked sane by saying "He's a lunatic!". So who is more insane? Have they ever crossed paths in the comics?

The Joker vs The Creeper?
yes they did...dyrin a short lived 'joker' series durin' the mid 70s...the creeper was definitely the joker's superior then; but the joker has become so homicidally insane in the past 30 years that NOBODY is even in his league now,,,let alone his superior...
Reply:In the DC comics, The Creeper made several appearances and had about 2 or 3 short lived solo series. His origin has been strange and muddled, and I have learned that the Batman Animated Series features a different more logical origin. I still don't recall The Creeper ever crossing paths with The Joker, despite his involvement with Batman in the comic books. The Creeper had an enemy called Proteus. The Creeper was a "hero" but with a bit of a psychosis, and a lame costume. I understand why you ask this, as the appearances between The Joker and The Creepre must be similar in the Batman cartoon (sorry, I missed the episode). I wish I could give you a concrete answer, but I doubt that in the comic books, at least, that the Joker and the Creeper crossed paths; I could be wrong. The Joker is still far more insane than the Creeper. The Creepre is a bit delusional and suffers from a dual personality psychosis. He doesn't know when/if he is Jack Ryder or the Creeper. He doesn't intentionally hurt anyone, nor is he considered evil. The Joker, however, plainly is the epitome of an insane evil person.

Virginia creeper.....Tell me about it?

We have a healthy start from a Virginia Creeper. We live in So. Oregon, West of the Cascade mts. We have a good growing season, and mild winters, very little snow, nothing below 15 deg. usually. we have full sun, partial sun, and mostly shade areas to choose from. Any of you with V. Creepers doing well who might have some insight?

Virginia creeper.....Tell me about it?
I grew it in Seattle around the dog kennel for shade along with trumpet vine. The TV outgrew the VC and the TV grew higher than the VC as well. The VC wanted to grow more on the ground, but some did grow up as well. However my dog kept eating it and getting sick (is is poisonous) so I had to take it out. I never had any disease problems with it however. Very pretty, especially in the fall.

It got morning sun and of course, lots of water from the rain. It took a while to get started, but after about a year it took off %26amp; grew very well.
Reply:Plant it wherever you want to plant it. That stuff is a weed and once you get it established you'll be pulling it out for years to come. it gets everywhere and is like a plague!... I hate that stuff! The Virginia creeper in my yard makes my blood boil....
Reply:Well, I have VC growing all along the west side of my house. It is a volunteer in that I did not plant it, it just showed up. It seems to prefer the shade and even tolerates deep shade very well. It has pretty much taken over one part of my fence, a garden shed and a large pecan tree. It is pretty invasive, but if you have a large area you would like covered then this is your vine. It is a lovely hunter green in the summer and red in Autumn. I've never done anything to my VC in the way of fertilizer or special watering so I suspect that it thrives on neglect. I personally think it is a beautiful vine and I don't mind that it has decided to grow on my property. Oregon should be about zone 8 so VC would work nicely in your climate.

Enjoy
Reply:You seem to have asked and answered your own question. Here in the Dakotas mine are plagued by late season mildew. RScott
Reply:They're very hardy and aggressive plants. Don't put them near anything you don't want covered up, and plan on weeding them regularly everywhere else. Birds like the berries and spread them around for you.

They are really nice if you want to cover a fence or wall to screen off an area. I have about a 50 foot chunk of fence covered by some.
