Is it a dodder weed? Check out these links for pictures and descriptions. If so, contact your local agricultural department immediately, they are very invasive and destructive and will spread to other areas if left unchecked. You'll probably have to destroy (burn) the weed and the plants it has infested. Do not dispose of it in the garbage as it can end up in the landfill and spread from there.
